2. Transparent acrylic blanks (approximately $10-20)

Here’s the process for making your keychain:
1. Print your designed artwork on paper.
2. Place the paper between two transparent acrylic blanks.
3. Punch a hole in the appropriate spot.
4. Use the laser cutter to trim away the excess material.
5. Attach the key ring through the hole.
Note: Please be aware that most household laser cutters have lower power and cannot operate continuously for long periods. Therefore, if you plan to produce in bulk, it’s best to contact a manufacturer to handle the production.
Now, let’s get back to the topic of acrylic keychain products.
Acrylic keychains are affordable, durable, and can be customized in almost every way. The surface of an acrylic keychain can be covered with a transparent protective film to prevent damage from sharp objects.
However, acrylic surfaces with a hardness below 3H are prone to scratching. In addition to high strength and a glossy finish, acrylic is tough and not easily damaged. Unlike metal, it doesn’t become uncomfortably cold in winter. Its vibrant colors cater to different preferences, and it has strong repairability.
For minor surface scratches, you can use a soft foam or cloth with a small amount of toothpaste to gently rub the scratched area, then rinse off the toothpaste residue. If the scratches are more severe, I suggest discarding the current keychain and getting a brand-new acrylic one.
Of course, just like I mentioned in my previous response, you can gently wipe it with soft foam. If you want a more thorough cleaning, mix a few drops of dish soap with warm water and gently wipe it with a soft cloth. You’ll have a brand-new old acrylic keychain again—haha.
If your acrylic keychain is very thin or if the key ring hole is too narrow, the first scenario might result in the keychain not being strong enough, causing it to break from the middle. The second scenario could lead to the key ring pulling and breaking the hole.
Of course, but you can cover the surface of your acrylic keychain with a transparent protective film to minimize accidental scratches as much as possible.
When our customers receive the acrylic keychains we produce, each keychain is individually packaged in an OPP bag, and a protective film covers the surface of the keychain. This maximizes scratch prevention and ensures that customers receive a flawless product.
Returning to the topic, if you want even more vibrant colors, you can use your fingernail to start peeling from the edge or an easier corner until you can grab enough of the protective film. Then, carefully peel the film off the front of the acrylic. Make sure you’ve gripped enough of the film; otherwise, if the film breaks, you’ll have to start over.
Acrylic may have the same light transmittance and high gloss as glass, but it doesn’t break as easily as regular glass. It is fully resistant to scratches, corrosion, and UV rays.
I think this issue requires a premise, such as temperature or duration. No material in the world can withstand direct sunlight indefinitely. Under normal time or temperature conditions, acrylic keychains won’t be damaged by sunlight. It’s similar to how we don’t stay in the sun all day even after applying sunscreen, right?
Acrylic keychains are scratch-resistant, which means the design on the keychain can be displayed for a long time. They’re also highly durable and not easily worn out. If you don’t mind the protective film, you can peel it off after a few years of use, and you’ll have a keychain that looks brand new again.
